F. Roger Miller

MILLER-- F. Roger, 83, Richland, died December 15, 2018, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born Dec. 23, 1934, in Erie, son of the late Frank M. and Kathryn W. (Wellenreiter) Miller.  Preceded in death by sister, Christie Miller. Survived by many loyal friends from First Presbyterian Church, Johnstown, and many singing friends from local groups and choruses in Johnstown. Roger graduated from Academy High School in Erie and the University of Pittsburgh Main Campus. He taught school for 10 Years and was also employed in men’s clothing sales at Glosser’s and Boscov’s. Member of First Presbyterian Church in Johnstown, where he served in many capacities: Deacon, Elder, Editor of the church newsletter, President and Treasurer of Genevens, Bell Choir, Senior Choir, member of Pathfinders Class and served as volunteer at the Presbyterian Home. He was also a member of the Johnstown Symphony Chorus. At age 16, Roger won a competition with the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra playing a Rachmaninov Piano concerto. At Roger’s request, there will be no viewing, however, friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the First Presbyterian Church in Johnstown at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Alice Tondora officiating. Private Inurnment at Grandview Cemetery. Many thanks to the wonderful girls at Arbutus and Donna Christopher, a loyal friend and advisor to Roger.
