Eugene C. O'Donnell

O’Donnell, Eugene C., “Gene”, 87, Richland Township. Died August 17, 2012, at home. Born Dec. 28, 1924, in Johnstown. Son of the late John and Minnie (Pillet) O’Donnell. Also preceded in death by wife, Mary Lou (Clark) O’Donnell. Survived by these children; Alan, married to the former Karen Wingard, Salix; Kathleen, wife of Ron Bergman, Gibsonia, PA; and Patricia Bennett, Aurora, CO. Grandchildren, Melissa and Ashley.  Graduate of University of Pittsburgh with an Industrial Engineering degree.  Retired with 30 years’ service from the Industrial Engineering Dept, Johnstown Plant, Bethlehem Steel Corp. Long time Member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. WW II Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Batfish and USS Bluegill submarines as the Radio Man in the Pacific Theatre.  Gene joined the U.S. Sub Vets of WWII, the Three Rivers Chapter, in Pittsburgh, PA, in 1986 and became a Life Member in 1987. He and his wife enjoyed many Sub Vet “Family” reunions across the nation. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and from 10 AM to 11 AM time of Funeral Service Wednesday at Mt Calvary Lutheran Church.
