Hordubay – Edward P., 82, Richland, went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2019. Born on March 30, 1936 in Windber, son of Joseph and Irene (Hudaky) Hordubay. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill and Jim, and sister-in-law, Kay Palya Petro. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Jane (Palya) Hordubay; children, Edward Paul Jr., married to the former Patricia Stormer, Kissimmee, FL and Jean M., wife of Nathan Hernandez, Chester, VA, Jon C., Johnstown; grandsons, John Paul, Tampa, FL and Bradley Hernandez, Chester, VA; siblings, Joe (Dottie), Glencoe, MD, and Irene (Jim) Hillen, Mt. Airy, MD; sisters-in-law, Irene Hordubay, Pittsburgh, Joanne (Chuck) Marginot, Venice, FL, and Berniece (Pete) Yelovich, Central City, PA; brother-in-law, Andy (Zelda) Palya, Gilbert, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was a 1954 graduate of Windber High School, where he made All State for offense and defense as a Windber Rambler. Later he graduated from NC State University, where he earned a Degree in Textile Chemistry. While attending NC State University he was a member of the 1957 Wolf Pack that won the Atlantic Coast Conference. Ed was a US Army Captain serving during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Allied Chemical as a Textile Chemist and later at Beckman Instruments as a Consultant. Ed later became self-employed in the insurance investment field. Ed retired from Capital Financial Company, where he was a partner with his life-long friend, Ralph Facciani. In his later years, he was inducted into the Windber Hall of Fame. He was an avid sports and NASCAR fan. Ed loved his family and will be remembered for his quick wit and intelligence. At. Ed’s request, there will be no public viewing. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. The family suggests contributions be directed to the Windber Stadium in C/O Windber Letterman’s Club, 605 Sugar Maple Drive, Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Edward. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com. Cremation by Laurel Highlands Crematory at Harris Funeral Home.
