Edward C. Gartrell

Gartrell, Edward C., 85, of Ebensburg, formerly of Johnstown. Died Sept. 23, 2021, at home. Born Dec. 19, 1935, in Johnstown. Son of the late Edward and Anna (Centrich) Gartrell. Also preceded in death by siblings; Paul, Elizabeth Galayda, Madalyn Siplivy, and James Gartrell. Survived by loving wife of 59 years, Delores (Kokler); siblings Diana Rzeszut, George (Shirley), Victor (Katherine), Barbara Hurtack, Joan (Charles) Rzeszut, Evelyn Rzeszut and Erna Kaminski; also, numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired PA State Trooper from the Ebensburg Barracks. A member of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, Johnstown. A life member of the F.O. P., member of Johnstown Elks Lodge #175 and the American Troopers Assn. Ed enjoyed golfing and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Friends received from 2 to 6 pm Sunday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland where Pomen will be held at 6 pm. Also, visitation from 10 am to 11 am Monday at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 am Monday at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church. Fr. Dragan Vukovic. Entombment at Grandview Mausoleum.
