Cernic, Edward J. Sr., “PAP”, 85, Tanneryville. Died Mar. 21, 2018, at Conemaugh Medical Center. Born Feb. 2, 1933, in Johnstown. Son of the late Joseph and Mary (Jurcevich) Cernic. Also preceded in death by wife, Nancy A. (Felix); and brother John. Survived by sons Edward Jr (Rosie); Kelly (Brendan); Jackson, Elin, Grayson; Marie (Reggie); Raina and Willow; son Craig (Connie) Jessica (Randy) Astrid; Nancy; Brian (Britany); son Jeffrey (Aimee) Joey; cousin Gloria, and friend Carol.  Ed served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy in Korea. Ed was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. He was a lifelong resident of Cambria County and Tanneryville. Ed dedicated his life to his family and helping others in the Community. He founded many businesses throughout the years and was proud to create jobs and see his name carried on by his sons. Ed was instrumental in the 1977 Flood Recovery Efforts in Johnstown and surrounding communities. He was a Charter Member of the Johnstown West End Lions, and a 50-year member of Greater Johnstown Lodge #538 F & AM; and Jaffa Shriners. He also served on the Greater Johnstown Water Authority as Chairman, Cambria County Airport Authority, Pennsylvania Transportation Committee, Ameriserv Bank Board of Directors, VCI Veterans Board, and other local nonprofit and charitable organizations. In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to Johnstown West End Lions or Shriners Hospital for Children. Friends received 1-8 PM Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Masonic Service will be held at 6:30 PM and Lions Service will be held at 7 PM followed by military rites by Conemaugh Valley Detachment, Marine Corps League.  Viewing will be concluded at 8 PM with words by Pastor Rob Wolf.
