Dorothy H. Hughes

Hughes, Dorothy Hazel, age 86 of Johnstown PA and Pharr, TX, went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2019.  Born on Feb. 12, 1933, in Vandergrift, PA, daughter of Floyd Franklin McManus and Lela Grace Kelley McManus.  Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Bob McManus, Victor McManus and Jack McManus and her sisters, Jane Grinder (McManus) and Alice Vasilko (McManus). Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Richard O. Hughes, sons, Robert Neil Hughes, wife, Ashley Marie Hughes, Richard Owen Hughes III and partner, Wenli Li, granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Cobaugh, grandsons, Justin Robert Hughes and Lincoln Connor Hughes, great grandchildren, Xavier Scott and Marlie Hughes, and sister, Gail (McManus) Skowron. Dorothy was a graduate of Vandergrift H.S. working at the local movie theater on weekends and after graduation worked at General Telephone in Vandergrift (where she met her husband Richard) and as a Manager with Sears for 15 years until retirement.  She enjoyed Modern Western Square Dancing, baking, eating out, dressing sharp and taking vacations and spending time with her family. Friends and family with be received at 10 a.m. Friday August 2, at Grove Avenue United Methodist Church, 501 Grove Ave, Johnstown, where Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Carol Hickman, officiating, followed by lunch at the Church.  A committal service will be held at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum at 2 pm. following the lunch. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions be directed to the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society in memory of Dorothy.  The family is being served by Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
