Dorothy Bailey

October 22, 1941 — May 15, 2022

BAILEY---Dorothy (Koontz) “Dottie,” 81, Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Richland Township, went home to be with her Lord on May 15, 2022. She was born in Johnstown, daughter of Herman and Dorothy Koontz. As a former resident of Richland Township, Dorothy graduated from Richland High School. After graduation, she relocated to Washington D.C. to work for the United States Government. While in Washington, she met her husband, Richard Bailey who was also a government employee. Dorothy and Richard resided in Alexandria, VA during their working years. After retirement, Dorothy and Richard relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where Dorothy resided for the last 30 years of her life. Dorothy, lovingly referred to as Dottie, is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard and sister, Lynda Gallaher. She is survived by her cousins, Larry Koontz, Richard Koontz, Scherry Koontz Dietz, Bonita Murray, Kathy Mangus and Freda Loucks; brother-in-law, J.C. Gallaher and her very best friend, Ruth Dziadon and her husband David. Dottie was laid to rest on May 25, 2022 at Richland Cemetery along with her husband. It was her wish to have her body returned to her hometown of Johnstown and to be placed in the Richland Cemetery where her parent’s bodies are at rest. Dottie was a very special gift given by God to those who knew her. She never said a harsh word against anyone and gave freely to those who needed her charity. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. It is comforting to know that in the end, Dottie died of natural causes during her sleep without any suffering. She was called home to be with her Lord and family, a reward for a life well lived. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Online condolences may be posted at www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
