Doris J. Brown

BROWN---Doris J., 84, Bedford, formerly of New Paris and Johnstown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Aug 8, 2025 while residing at Colonial Courtyard of Bedford PA. Born Oct 4, 1940 in Johnstown, daughter of Clifford E. “John” and Bertha (Ellis) Holsopple of Windber, PA. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Betty Martell. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Donald Brown; son, Paul Brown (Kelly Corle Brown), New Paris, daughters, Barbara Penrod (Roger Penrod) of Beaverdale; Deborah Etter (Mark Etter) of Middletown, PA & Linda Shaffer (Harry Shaffer) of Alum Bank; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Sister of Shirley Berkey, Johnstown. Doris was a compassionate nurse and worked with Drs. Robin and Flora Torres, as well as at Bedford Hospital, Donahue Manor and Pennknoll Village. She loved reading and she was always busy on the farm, gardening & canning and then volunteering with the Ambulance, Girl Scouts and Sunday School. She was the best Wife, Mom, Grandma and Mother-in-law (her sons-in-law raved about her cooking and baked goods). She was beloved by her family and will be greatly missed! At this time, and as she wished, there will be no viewing or funeral service. A Celebration of Life Service will be held by her family in the near future. The date of that Celebration will be announced at a later date. The family is being served by Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
