Desmond F. "Des" Winters

Winters – Desmond F., “Des”, 51, Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2022. Born on June 11, 1971 in Johnstown, son of the late James “Don” Winters and Lois B. (Thornton) McLaurin. Preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Lewis and Elizabeth (Stephens) Thornton, and paternal grandparents, James W., Janie (Dubose) Winters, and several uncles.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Desalee R. Winters; step father, Scottie McLaurin, OK; siblings, James D. (Jacki) Thornton, South Fork, Natalie C. Smith, Johnstown, and Ryan S. (Brandi) Smith Sr., San Gabriel, CA; nieces and nephews, Ladaya, Shakor, Ryan Jr., Brendan, Marissa, Isaac, and Shyleigh; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Des attended Lancaster High School in TX. He was a self-employed handy man in the Johnstown area. Des attended Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church in East Conemaugh. He enjoyed boxing, lifting weights, loved music and playing with children. Des was a man of few words, but will be remembered as a giving person who loved his family dearly.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh, with the Rev. Maurice Williams officiating.
