SILKO—David Paul, 74, Franklin, passed away peacefully at the home of his sister with his adoring family by his side on May 9, 2024. Born June 24, 1949, in Johnstown, son of Peter Paul and Frances Ann (Guzek) Silko. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by his brothers and sisters, Kathleen (Gregory) Speicher, Leonard (JoAnn), Marianne, Ronald (Cindy), Sandra (Robert Ryen), Teresa (John) Shannon, Suzanne (Frank) Funa; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was a graduate of Bishop McCort High School. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and received his Master’s Degree from Wright University. He served in the Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a Franklin Borough Police Officer during the 1977 Johnstown Flood. He retired as a Sergeant from the Pennsylvania State Corrections Institution. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, his custom cars and motorcycles. He was a big fan of all Pittsburgh teams. He was a member of the Street Survivors Car Club, the Blue Angels Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Daisytown Sportsmen’s Association and the Am-Slo Social Club Pool Team. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 17, 2024 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, Fr. David S. Peles officiating. Committal, Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg with military graveside rites by the Ebensburg Legion Post #363 and Ebensburg VFW Post #4963 combined Honor guard. The family suggests memorial contributions to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at www.dogood.t2t.org or to ViaQuest Hospice, 607 Georgian Place, Suite B, Somerset, PA 15501 in Memory of David Paul Silko.
