Watts, Constance Darlene (Coleman), a cherished and vibrant soul, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, in Michigan City, Indiana. Born on January 30, 1953, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her parents Nathaniel Coleman Sr. and Bennie Lee Anthony-Coleman and son Jackie Watts Jr. and her siblings Nathaniel Coleman Jr., John Coleman, James Coleman Sr., Mary McCray and mother-in-law Alicia Watts and sisters-in-law Eular Coleman, Willetta Coleman, Lorraine Facey, Janet Shackleford and brothers-in law Mark Watts and John( Skippy) McCray. Her life was enriched by her beloved husband, Jackie Watts Sr., with whom she shared love and memories with 55 years of marriage. Connie's family circle includes her surviving brother, Ronald Coleman, and special cousin/sister, Patsy Jones.
Connie's legacy is carried on by her devoted children, Jeanal (Sam) Watts-Johnson and Jerome (Melissa) Watts Sr., her godchildren Keith Gregory Jr., Michelle Gregory, and Kyresha Durham, and her treasured grandchildren Anthony Watts-May, Elexus Jones, Jaylen Jemison, Jerome Watts II, Justin Watts, Jordan Watts, Vaunte' Johnson, Tristan Watts, Isaac Watts, Samuel S Johnson., Isiah Watts, Jayden Watts, Jaslyn Watts, and god grandchildren Kruz and Konnor Gregory. Her joy was further multiplied by her great-grandchildren, Kyrie Walker and Jerome Watts III, and the anticipation of another great-grandchild on the way.
She held a special place in her heart for her nieces Starr (Edward) Durham and Beverly (John) Tullis, and nephew, James “Jimmy” (Sovannia) Coleman Jr., who were raised as her siblings. Her family extended to her brothers-in-law, Lewis Watts, and sisters-in-law, Ginger (Stanley) Nevels Janet Watts, Melody Watts; and Aunt Earnestine Parrish. Host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Connie's education began at Conemaugh Valley High School in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Her work ethic was evident through her dedicated service at Penelec Electric Company for five years, Jaymar Ruby Factory for ten years, and the United States Postal Services for twenty-eight years. Her commitment to her community was reflected in her involvement with various associations throughout her life.
A devout Christian, Connie was baptized at Mount Sinai Institutional Baptist Church in Johnstown, PA. After relocating to Michigan City, IN, she became a member of the former Mount Zion Missionary Baptist, now known as Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on The Missions Auxiliary with fervor and grace.
Connie's interests were as diverse as her friendships.
She nurtured relationships with a wide circle of special friends, including Keith and Mary Gregory Sr. (Like brother and sister), Vanessa Byrd-Fry, Maxine Hawkins, Mother Bertha Ansley, Faye Cunningham, Faye Moore, Doris Tillman, Janet Thomas, Shirley Myers, Denise Stribland, Renita Burton, Toni Bradley, Harry "Buster" Gordon, Beatrice Jackson, Charlene Dukes, Pam Nash, Elaine Gibson, Roberta Harris, Joann Jackson, Rita Buchanan, Cynthia Willis, Lavonne Taylor, Sherisa Marley, Marcia Byers, Ruthie Taylor, Donald and Cynthia King, William and Queen Ester Mack, Andrea Gipson, Chris Potts and among many others.
Funeral Services was held Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 123 Helen St, Michigan City, IN 46360. Arrangements were entrusted to Emmanuel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Michigan City, IN. 46360.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of Home Going Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Mount Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, 351 Second St, Conemaugh, PA 15909. Burial at Grandview Cemetery, 801 Millcreek Road, Johnstown, Pennsylvania 15905. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
