Carole E. Vogel

Vogel, Carole E. (Jefferies), 80, of Johnstown. Passed away at her home surrounded by her husband and children on February 20, 2018.  Carole was born on July 31, 1937 in New York City and raised in the Bronx.  Preceded in death by foster parents Catherine Lorditich and  Nathan Walker.  Survived by loving husband, Ronald, of 62 years.  Children:  Michael Vogel married to Christine (Waligora) Germantown, MD; Brenda married to Dr. Rudolph Schilli, Bethesda, MD; John Vogel and Lindsay Patten Frederick, MD.   Carole was a loving and caring grandmother to Emily Vogel (25) and Grady Vogel (2 1/2).  Also step granchildren John, Stephanie, and Suzanne Schilli and step great grandchild, Juliette Schilli; step sister in law, Mary Kay Tacik and very special friend, Cindy Nagy. Carole worked at Mercy Hospital, Director of Admissions for 36 years and at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in the Outpatient office for 10 years.  She served on the board at Valley Pike Manor and on the board at Merho Credit Union.  She was a member of the St. Anne's Society - St. John Gualbert Cathedral. Carole enjoyed many friendships through her work at Mercy Hospital and was the founder of the Mercy Hospital Reunions which gave many people an opportunity to renew friendships. Carole was always happy to go on bus trips, shopping and traveling with her husband, daughter and son-in-law.  Her true joy in life was family gatherings.  She was a most fun, caring , compassionate, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and she will be missed by many.  Her light will shine through everyone who knew her and she will always be in our hearts. Friends received 2-8 PM Friday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM Saturday at St. John Gualbert Cathedral. Our family would like to thank Dr. Ibrahim Sbeitan, Dr. George Pueblitz, Amy Riley and Windber Hospice.  A very special thank you to the nurses and staff on Good Sam 5 for their kind and loving caring of our mother. Donations in Carole's honor may be made to St. Jude's Children’s Hospital.
