It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Berkhimer on August 16, 2026. He was born on May 1, 1969 in Johnstown to Clarence and Barbara Berkhimer. Preceded in death by his father.
Survived by mother of Seanor; daughter, Kiylee Blue; brother James Coffman (Patricia); sister, Doreen; sister, Chris Miller; brother Bob (Marci); nephews, Dan Berkhimer (Megan), who was like a son to Brian; Chase Miller, Nate Berkhimer and Scott Feltenberger
(Jenn); nieces, Kayla Miller, Livia Berkhimer, Kristie Gillespie (Patrick), great niece and nephew Sophia and Tristan Gillespie. Brian is also survived by several aunts and cousins.
Brian was a 1987 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School where he was part of the
wrestling program. Upon graduation he spent several years working at Miller-Picking in Davidsville. He then worked on various construction jobs learning the trades, especially welding. This led him to start working for government contractors overseas. He spent 3 years at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. Brian was one of a kind! You either loved him or hated him. And he could pretty much talk anyone in or out of anything. He also would do anything to help anyone out. If you were down on your luck, he would give you his last dollar. He was taken from this earth to soon. Rest in peace, Brian.
At Brian’s request, there will be no viewing or service. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. If you would like to make a memorial contribution in memory of Brian, we suggest The Wounded Warrior Project or Disabled Veterans Association. Brian wasn’t in the military but he spent a lot of time with military personnel while in Afghanistan and it would be a fitting tribute to him. Cremation by Laurel Highlands Crematory at Harris Funeral Home.
