STOY---Bonita Lee "Bonnie," 76, Windber, passed into her heavenly home on the wings of angels on May 16, 2025 at Conemaugh Hospital. Bonnie was born May 3, 1949, in Windber, daughter of Russell and Julia (Lidwell) Stoy. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Margaret Beiswenger, Dorothy Mansfield, Marie Geisel, Janet Stoy and Judie Engbert; brothers, Donnie Ray, Roger Stoy and Russ Stoy. Survived by sisters, Catherine Stoy, Regina Nosal and Jackie Fetchko and sisters-in-law, Joanne Stoy (Roger) and Mary Jo Stoy (Russ) Bonnie is also survived by many close nieces, nephews and cousins and she loved them all and that love was returned a hundred fold. She was the youngest of 12 children and felt blessed to belong to a very close, beautiful, large Irish Catholic family. She was a 1967 graduate of Windber Area High School and a 1970 graduate of Conemaugh School of Nursing. Bonnie was a proud veteran of the United States Army Nurses Corps. She held the rank of Lieutenant and served her country in Vietnam. Her nursing career was spent largely working in Veteran Administration hospitals in Pennsylvania and West Virginia where she always said she was taking care of her "military boys" as she referred to them. Bonnie was a very devout Catholic with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Windber. As was Bonnie's wish, there will be no visitation but the family's request is that you come to celebrate her life at a Funeral Mass at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Windber, with Fr. Rod Soha T.O.R. Military honors will be accorded by Windber VFW, Post #4795 ritual team. In Bonnie's honor there will also be a service by the Nurses Honor guard. Private interment at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Ashville. The family is being served by Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
