Bernard L. "Bud" Seitz

June 21, 1930 — January 22, 2024

Seitz – Bernard L. “Bud”, 93, Belmont, went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2024. Born on June 21, 1930 in Johnstown, son of Bernard J. and Sara J. (Clark) Seitz. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary E (Hammett) Seitz; infant daughter, Jayne Anne; infant son, Paul Bernard; Joseph Lawrence; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Watt, Carole and Eileen Hammett, and brothers-in-law, Vincent DeFrank, John Watt, and Ted Hammett. 

 

He is survived by his loving children, Timothy P., Westmont, Janice M. (Michael) Molchany, Westmont, Robert E. (Coleen) Topeka, KS, B. Paul (Mary) Geistown, and Thomas R. (Claudine), Westmont; grandchildren, Sara Eddy, Mickey and Ben Molchany, Carlee (Chase) Bauer, Drew and Dylan Seitz, Brianne (Zach) Vignero, Adam (Olivia) Seitz, Laura (Kevin) Tomkowski, and Meghan (Owen) Finkbeiner, and Brett Seitz and Chad (Jackie) Michael; great grandsons, Hunter and Hendrix Eddy, Gabriel and Jacob Tomkowski, and Jaxson Michael; great granddaughter, Clare Finkbeiner; brothers-in-law, Paul Hammett and J. Patrick (Janet) Hammett; sister-in-law, Theresa DeFrank, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

Bud was a 1948 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. He was US Navy Korean War Veteran. Bud was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown, where he was a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and an Adult and Funeral Choir member. He was also a Knights of Columbus member. Bud was a proud manager/coach of the V.E. Erikson’s Lion Tamers.  He retired from GTE/Verizon after 43 years as a technician. He was a founding member  and Treasurer of JSTC Federal Credit Union. He had a strong faith in God, and loved his church community at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Bud loved spending time with his beloved family and friends at family gatherings, holidays, Penn State games, and progressive dinners. He also loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting activities. Anytime there was a get together, friends were always treated like family. Bud was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend to so many. He was at peace leaving us, and happy to reunite with his loving wife, Mary. Bud’s family would like to thank McCullough Place, which was his home for the past 2 years. We would also like to thank AsceraCare Hospice for their loving care.   

 

Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Military rites will be conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW at the conclusion of the Mass. Private burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Bud.
