Russell – Barbara Jean, 72, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2017 at her residence. Born on September 1, 1944 in Cairnbrook, PA, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Marko) Slovensky. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joseph J. “Slo”; son-in-law, Mark E. Grunza; grandnephew, Joseph A. Slovensky Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Leonard J. Russell; daughters, Connie M. Grunza, Davidsville and Renee D. Stephens, and her significant other, George J. Lambrinos, both of Johnstown; grandson, Russell M. Grunza, Davidsville; sisters-in-law, Olivia (Bonitz) Slovensky, Richland Township, and Patty (Russell), wife of Jerry Dively, Etters, PA; brothers-in-law, Sylvester A. Russell, Cairnbrook, and Robert (Nancy) Russell, Mantua, OH; nephew, Joseph A. (Cheryl) Slovensky; nieces, Jacqueline Slovensky-McQuaide, Joni (Bruce)  Schofield, and Janine (Jeff) Ribblett; grandnephews, Patrick and Derick McQuaide, Mitchell and Michael Hoffman; grandnieces, Hunter and Laken Schofield, and Jocelyn Hernandez; numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, including special friend, Dolores (Ron) Newsom, Robert and Nicholas Newsom, Lori (Rich) Louder, and Marge Webb, and her fur baby, Kylie. Barbara was a 1962 graduate of Shade High School. She later graduated from Conemaugh School of Nursing. Barbara was employed at St. Luke Hospital, Cleveland, OH, Church of the Brethren Home, Windber, PA, and retired from Windber Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Recovery Room. She was a member of the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Barbara enjoyed playing the piano, listening to polkas, and shopping, but especially loved watching her grandson, Russell play soccer. She loved God and her family with all her heart and lived her life in prayer. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Fr. John J. Slovikovski, Pastor. Committal will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at Richland Cemetery.
