Anna E Smolar

Smolar, Anna Evelyn, 80, of Elton Heights passed away on December 22, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 13, 1930 in Gary, IN. Married to Paul J. Smolar, St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Cambria City.  Preceded in death by parents Michael and Mary Kachmar and sister-in-law, Maxine Kachmar. Survived by husband Paul and children Michael and wife Silvana, Miami Beach, FL, and Paula DeVos and husband David, Grand Haven, MI; sister Elaine and brother Michael, Beaverdale, brothers David and Robert and wife Sharon, and sister Patricia and husband Curtis Costlow all of Richland area, numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Sandy Burkey. Evelyn had been employed for 10 years by the former Crane Co.  After raising her children, she volunteered at Windber Medical Center for nine years.  She loved what she did and met beautiful people. Friends received from 2-6 P.M. on Monday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland where vigil for the deceased will be held. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 A.M. Tuesday at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Geistown, officiated by Reverend David Peles. Private committal will be held at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to your favorite charity or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Evelyn.
