McCombie - William J., 65, Johnstown, passed on October 5, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 6, 1955 in Johnstown. Son of the late Walter L & Nancy (Stevens) McCombie. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers-in-law, David Colbert, David Rohme, and Mark Peretin. Survived by his loving wife, Pam (Hillegass); sons, Tom (Nichole) and John (Jamie); granddaughter, Gianna; step-grandchildren, Joe, Claire, and Shjon; sisters, Regina Colbert, Pauline (Roy) Emerick, Tammy Rohme, and Carol Peretin; brother, W. Ray (Suzette) McCombie, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill worked for the family business, McCombie Masonry, side by side with his father and brother. After his time there, he followed his passion for the outdoors and wildlife and worked for the Pennsylvania Game Commission as Food and Cover Supervisor, Farm Game Manager, and Deputy Game Warden for 21 years. He took pride in teaching Hunter Education to many of the hunters in the area, since 1997. Bill was a Life Member of Daisytown Sportsman Club, National Rifle Assoc., PA Trappers Assoc., Amateur Trap Shooters Assoc., Keystone Elk County Alliance, and National Wild Turkey Federation. He was a former Fire Chief of Solomon Run Vol. Fire Company, PA State Fire Instructor, member of Cambria County Regional Firefighters Association, and a member of Riverside Vol. Fire Department. Bill was also an avid trap shooter, having shot many state shoots, the most memorable being the Alaska State Shoot. Family and friends will be received form 5-7 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon on Friday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with Pastor Jack Lucas, officiating. Private inurnment will be at the convenience of the family. The family suggests contributions be directed to Windber Hospice or Riverside Vol. Fire Department in memory of Bill.
