Mary Ann was a graduate of Johnstown High School. Many years ago, Mom worked at Kline’s in Johnstown as well as a waitress at the Tick-Tock Restaurant in Johnstown where she met Dad. Mom and Dad owned a Harry’s Pizza Shop in Hornerstown with Dad making the dough and sauce and Mom taking care of the store. Mom also sold Avon at home when we kids were younger, and worked at The Dutchman Restaurant along Somerset Pike when Dad was laid off of work to supplement income. Mom was a long-time member of the former Ideal Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary and a past Judge of Elections for Somerset County. She loved roller skating in her younger years, spending time at Roseland and Skateland. Mom was always playing cards and games, especially Upwords. She loved cooking and baking and always made so much food we would tell her she should have been a caterer. Mom always had time to talk and listen to you, no matter when you called or saw her. She loved her flower garden and all of her many dogs throughout the years. Mom was a true homebody and loved being around her family. At her request, there will be no public viewing. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Fr. Peter Crowe, Pastor. Committal will be at Stahl Mennonite Cemetery, 1201 Soap Hollow Road, Johnstown. The family would like to thank Windber Woods for the wonderful care during the past six months, especially Tina Kapcsos and Sarah Schropp who made many weekly video calls possible during the pandemic between Mary Ann and her daughter. Those will truly be treasured. Also special thanks to Penn Hospice and RN Trista who took care of mom during the past five months. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. (Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com)
