Layne – Elizabeth Ann, 74, Richland, went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2020 at Conemaugh Medical Center. Born on April 4, 1946 in Braddock, daughter of Theodore F. and Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Garo) Layne. Preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Sharon Layne. She is survived by her loving siblings, Paul (Lynne) Layne, Cary, NC, and Lori Campbell, Johnstown and many friends. Elizabeth was a member of the Sisters of St. Ann of Providence, Ebensburg, and taught for that community in Minneapolis. She later joined the Carmelite Community of the Word, Gallitzin. Elizabeth also worked for the Dioceses of Arlington and as a Legal Secretary in Texas. After retirement, she gave private vocal and piano lessons to many children and adults in the Johnstown area. Elizabeth was also a member of the Johnstown Symphony Chorus. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown, where she served as a cantor, Eucharistic Minister, choir member, and lector. She loved music, ballet and had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially her cats and dogs. Elizabeth will be greatly missed by her family and friends. At the family’s request, there will be no public viewing. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28th, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Private Committal will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. The family suggests contributions be directed to Sisters of St. Ann of Providence, 1120 North Center Street, Ebensburg, PA 15931 in memory of Elizabeth.
