BLACKBURN– Brian Ross, 69, Richland, passed peacefully surrounded by family, September 8, 2021, in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Feb. 23, 1952 in Johnstown, son of H. Survived by his devoted and loving wife of 45 years, Delores (Morbit) and children Brian Paul (Neda) Blackburn of Ellicott City, MD, and Natalie Delores Blackburn of Pittsburgh, PA. Also survived by grandchildren, Alexander and Elliott Blackburn, Ellicott City, MD. Also survived by sister, Lori (Rick) Wagner; uncle, Dan (Linda) Blackburn; aunts, Marilyn Boyer and Dorothy Baumgardner; brother and sister in-laws, Paul Morbit, Barbara (Sam) Pantano; Loretta Nagy; Ralph (Phyllis) Morbit; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. Brian was a 1970 graduate of Richland High School and continued his studies at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, for both a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering. Brian began his 44-year engineering career at Miller-Picking York International and retired from JLG Industries, and was a member of ASHRAE. He served on the Richland Cemetery Association Board as a Trustee for 32 years. Brian was a dedicated and loving father and grandfather who enjoyed his family at home and traveling on many memorable vacations. He was an avid motorhead, proudly rebuilding a 1968 Camaro, rode Blackwater and Pikes Peak on his Bultaco motorcycle, a handyman extraordinaire able to fix anything, a true beach mechanic, and a fan of all things Pittsburgh, especially supporting Pitt Panther football as a season ticket holder. Brian was always eager to lend a helping hand to others and his kind soul has blessed and enriched our lives and he will be missed immensely. A special thanks to the Windber Hospice staff who helped Brian and his family at home in his final days with such care and compassion.
